Zealous Witnesses who never had children and regret it now.
by MsGrowingGirl20 ini had two close friends in the org.
one is in her early thirties and got married last year and the other one is single and in her late twenties.
after reading coc, i couldn't help but feel sad at how ray and his wife felt regret at putting the religion first and not having any children.

This is one of the things that has bothered me over the years. I understand the couples that make a choice to not have children because they simply don't want them but, there are many, many couples that truly want to have children and they felt pressured into making the decision not to have them because the leaders of this religion said they shouldn't. I already had my child before I came in but I can't imagine what those women feel like who have that desire and never had them because of the presure. The ones that chose to have them or it was an oops had to live with comments and judgements from others because of their choice, it is a natural desire in most women to have children. They take everything away from you in this religion. I look back on everything and sometimes I still get so angry because of the loss of so many joyful things in life. They would be happy if all we did was go to meetings and out in service. It is so sick and I believed all of that BS at one time.
Jim, I sent you a message.

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

I should have taken this as a sign of things to come but the very first time I went to a meeting I was in my 20's and my husband was disfellowshipped. We were sitting in the back beside a sister with a little girl. The little girl was restless but not acting up too much and the mother kept taking a hair brush and hitting her with it. It upset me so much and I told my husband if I ever go back I don't want to sit near her.
Some of these stories had me laughing out loud they were so funny. I hope more will add to this.

Don't ever give up. I have gone through the reverse of what you are going through. My son never became a Witness and married a lovely woman and they have two children. We were very close for awhile and then all of the sudden my dil started to treat me very coldly. I could never figure it out and I would ask her what happened. It was so stressful and I would cry almost every day over it. They then moved over 1500 miles away and I never heard much from them. Well, last summer we faded and when they came for a visit I let them know we were leaving the religion and it was like a light switch went on, they were all there for us. We even travelled to their home and spent a wonderful Christmas with them. Things have been wonderful with them but I never thought it would get to this point. I understand now why they distanced themselves and why the relationship was so broken.
Just when you think it is hopeless things can and do turn around. Hold on to your dreams because they can come true. I know it is so painful and some days you don't know how you are going to get through the day but we do. I still have some anger because I feel the religion has robbed so many of us of having a normal and happy life and it destroys so many families in the process. It sure is a roller coaster ride and I really hope you can eventually have a reunion with your son. My heart goes out to you and your husband. Hang in there.

Welcome Miss.Fit, I am so sorry you have lived through such a traumatic childhood and I hope you are in a much better place now. The more you talk about it the less power it has over you. If you are having a hard time dealing with it I suggest you get professional counseling too. We are always here for you and will be a hearing ear for you. I look forward to getting to know you.

We have been celebrating the holidays and loving every minute of it. My husband never celebrated since he was a born in but I did and I know how to make them fun!! He received a Fathers Day card from the kids and grandchildren and he had big tears in his eye and choked up and said "how can this be so terrible"!
I won't be getting a tattoo at 57 years old but if I were to get one it would be a watchtower with a circle around it and a red line drawn through it like the ghostbusters sign!! We joke bout that all the time.
I will register to vote because it is my right as a citizen.
I am not a rebellious person to begin with but I will continue to do what makes me happy as long as I don't hurt myself or anyone in the process.
i joined a bowling league and hubby has joined some meet ups to play music.
Brother of the Hawk, how did you go to meetings with a pierced ear?? I am sure that was a lot of fuel for gossip!! Lol!

Bitter apostates
by Laika inwitnesses often go on about apostates being spiteful and bitter.
when you get cut off, shunned, or threatened with shunning just for the audacity of thinking differently, it's not surprising that getting angry at the witnesses is the reaction - it's like a self fulfilling prophecy.. but also, i recently posted an email from a 'friend' on this board who told me that everyone he'd spoken to about me said i had changed, become like another person.
it didn't occur to him that the day before i told my parents i'd quit the religion just 3 weeks ago, i met him for lunch, we had a good time and he didn't know anything was up.

Laika, I was reading a lot of books about the FLDS, Scientologists, North Korea and the Amish before I found out about the real "truth". What kept going through my mind was how similar they were with the mind control and shunning. I realized that something wasn't right with the Witnesses so that is what started my journey with reading books about the Witnesses. They are all very simular in the fact that they all claim to have the "truth" and everyone of them will shun those they are in who go against any of the rules.

My 8 year old daughter tells me she is an atheist...???
by sosoconfused inso since we have not been to a meeting in 6 months or so, i decided to ask my daughter (on the way home from cheerleading practice - yeah i can't believe i am letting her engage in such a worldly activity lol) if she misses going to the kingdom hall.
she says sometimes because she can't see her friend - but she has made new friends so it doesn't bother her too much.
so i ask her, "well, what about learning about jehovah?
-
Aunt Fancy
What a sweet little girl. You are fortunate that she opens up and tells you her feelings. Hopefully when she gets older she will continue to trust you. She is using her thinking ability and is a deep thinker. I also was bother that children had to sit through adult meetings and I think that came from the fact I was raised a Presbyterian and there was Sunday School and Nursery for the young children. Keep that communication open, you are doing a great job. As Crofty said " out of the mouths of babes". They are just so innocent and tell it just like it is.

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

I feel Blonde contributes so much to help others escape the bonds of this cult. I find her interesting and informative and have a great deal of respect for her because she gives so much of her time to help others on this site. I appreciate what you do Blonde.
